Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about physiotherapy and treatments
1General Questions
What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assesses and treats movement disorders, pain, and functional limitations. It aims to improve quality of life through manual therapy, exercise, and electrotherapy. Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals specialized in rehabilitation of musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary conditions.
Who can benefit from physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy can be beneficial for musculoskeletal problems, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic pain, neurological conditions, and women's health issues. People of all ages, from infants to elderly, can receive physiotherapy. It is particularly important for back and neck pain, disc herniation, tendinitis, bursitis, sports injuries, and post-stroke rehabilitation.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
In private health centers in Turkey, a doctor's referral is not mandatory for physiotherapy. However, a doctor's report is required for treatment under social security. We will evaluate your complaints and recommend the most suitable treatment. In some cases, a doctor's report may be requested.
How long does the treatment process take?
Treatment duration varies depending on the patient's condition, severity of the complaint, and response to treatment. Generally, acute complaints require 4-8 sessions, while chronic conditions may need 10-15 sessions or more. We will provide you with an estimated plan after the initial examination.
2Appointments & Sessions
How can I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by phone (+90 552 750 71 71), WhatsApp, or by filling out the appointment form on our website. We will determine the most suitable date and time together.
How long is each session?
The initial assessment session lasts approximately 45-60 minutes. This includes detailed history taking, physical examination, and treatment planning. Follow-up treatment sessions are generally 30-45 minutes, depending on the treatment techniques applied.
What should I bring to my appointment?
We recommend bringing any diagnostic reports, MRI/X-ray results, and a list of medications you are currently taking. Wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. Shorts and t-shirts that allow easy access to the treatment area are preferred.
3Treatment Methods
What is manual therapy?
Manual therapy consists of specialized treatment techniques applied by the physiotherapist's hands. It reduces pain, increases range of motion, and relieves muscle spasms through joint mobilization, soft tissue techniques, and manipulation. It is an effective treatment method for back, neck, shoulder, and other joint problems.
Who is lymphatic drainage suitable for?
Lymphatic drainage is particularly applied to patients with lymphedema, post-surgical edema, chronic venous insufficiency, and circulatory disorders. It can also be preferred for cellulite and general detox. It is an effective treatment method frequently applied for arm edema after breast cancer surgery.
Will I feel pain during treatment?
Some treatment techniques may cause mild discomfort, but there should be no excessive pain. Please inform your physiotherapist about everything you feel during treatment. The intensity is adjusted according to your tolerance. Mild pain or fatigue after treatment is normal and passes within 24-48 hours.
